Treasure was able to try his hand at being one of the youngest cousins at a birthday party. (Something I still recall to this day being...) He chased the older cousins around trying to play with them, to no avail. They really did not want this little guy tagging along, getting in the way. (I remember this too. However, my slightly younger MALE cousin, J, may relate even better since Treasure spent most of the party shadowing the two youngest female cousins.)
All in all, it was a fantastic trip! Treasure got so much attention that I am glad he has his Nanny to dote on him this morning while I take care of business getting things back in order after the trip. (She is great at playtime and running him around until he falls down laughing. She is really great! Actually, today is her last day with us this summer. She is returning to college and we are hoping that we will get to utilize her over the winter break. Yup. She is that good, and he adores her that much.)
I have successfully gone through the huge stack of mail that was waiting for us... Made breakfast, watered the plants (All 70+ of them), filled the pool back up, started laundry, and purchased the most incredible gift for Treasure!
A new retro red play kitchen! It is super cute and super tiny. Made just for the smallest guys ready to take on the world of imaginative play. And Treasure has been for some time. He gravitates to any play kitchen in sight. Whether it is the display at a store like Ikea, or one in a friend's home. He l-o-v-e-s them. (And after Treasure's Nana and I went over a few of the top picks this past visit, I had finally come to a decision. S loves it too. In fact, it is so close to the play kitchen of our dreams that we are more than thrilled with the choice.)
And it arrives tomorrow! Hooray for fast and free shipping with no sales tax. (I know! Yea!) And since S loves a puzzle, it comes in a bazillion pieces to assemble. But it is real wood... And did I mention that is is beyond adorable?

Much smaller than the Pottery Barn kitchen (You know, that dream of a kitchen that takes up the space of your kitchen? And costs an arm? That is better than the kitchens we actually use to make real food in? Yup... And if Treasure ends up spending the rest of his imaginative playtime in the kitchen we just bought him, when he outgrows it, I may have saved up enough to justify replacing it with the complete Pottery Barn retro red set. Truth be told, that would actually thrill me. To have a child that into imaginative play in an age when that is a rarity...)

And just a little smaller, and way cuter than the regular Kidkraft kitchen we were also considering. (Though I am still missing the washing machine that was built into that particular model. I really like the retro red look and think that Treasure will flip for it.)

So... It arrives tomorrow and will be taunting Treasure and I until S has recovered enough from his business travels to take on the challenge of assembling the kitchen.
Now I am off to go search for things to put inside the kitchen for Treasure. We have the Ikea pots and pans, little glasses, and some of the cooking tools. And Bampa just bought him some of the felt play food. (Ikea was out of the veggie sets though and that is a bummer since those are foods that Treasure can identify right now...) I am going to look for some small boxes and jars for him to play with... And peruse etsy for more felt food. (Have you seen it? Way too cute, but pricey... I may have to resort to making some or asking for some as gifts...)

I know... Incredible, right?
Love from us to you,
A
